Customer Review: This book is detailed. Which was very discouraging when I first cracked it open. I was expecting a workbook but it much more like a text book. I found it hard to find put any information with out reading everything thing. There aren't any summaries, or steps at a glance, which makes it very difficult to use in the limited free time I have after work. Its not an entirely bad book, it is very informative and detailed. However if you are time limited, not interested in reading a lot or impatient, this is most likely not what you are looking for.

Customer Review: I bought and paid for 2 of these books - one to give to a friend. This was around 31 May 2009. Today is 2 July and I still haven't received them. It is very disappointing and I am quite angry about it because the shipping was very expensive and altogether, it cost me some NZD$100 which is a lot of money.
The rate this item is for the book - NOT THE SELLER!!! My sister has this book, so I am rating it based on what little I have read.
What are my rights in this instance? If this is how it's like and it's my first time buying anything from Amazon, then I won't bother buying again. I am really PISSED OFF. If someone from Amazon could get back to me, I would be grateful.

Customer Review: I had a prior edition of this book and was very satisfied with it. As a general review it is fast and detailed enough. I was taking the USMLE tests back then. Now I am doing my residency training, and I am in Psychiatry; but I still need an updated source to review about other problems that my patients may have. It is not as detailed and slow to read as other texts (Farreras-Rozman, Harrison) and still does the job.

Customer Review: As a clinical social worker and marriage and family therapist, I have been using "Mind Over Mood" with my clients for close to a decade. It is an essential part of therapy for a certain portion of my patient population who respond best to a cognitive behavioral approach.
I have found no other resource that comes close to this in its efficacy, clarity, and outcome. The basic premise is very simple - - our physical reactions, thoughts, moods, behaviors and environment are all connected. The workbook starts with helping clients to understand their problems. They are then taught to identify the underlying thoughts and moods that contribute to these perceived problems. They are shown how some of their thoughts and feelings are automatic but that there are alternatives and options for change.
Utilizing what is called a "Thought Record", clients are able to record and analyze situations or events that create anxiety or depression. Then, along with their therapist, they can examine triggers and ways to develop more balanced thoughts which end up improving their mood.
I highly recommend this book for any therapists who practice cognitive behavioral therapy. I took a course with Christine Padesky, one of the authors and that was very helpful. However, Clinician's Guide to Mind Over Mood is very helpful and should be sufficient for any seasoned therapist.

Customer Review: Whether you're a counselor teaching DBT or a an individual in need of one, this book is good. It doesn't go into the reasons of the disorder, just the basics on what skills to practice to help regulate emotions. Great in conjunction with DBT therapy but not a substitute to therapy, for those who need this DBT.
