What's Wrong with My Dog?: A Pet Owner's Guide to 150 Symptoms - and What to ... by Jake Tedaldi Amazon Price: $13.57
Customer Review: Dr. Tedaldi is one of the most down to earth, intelligent and funny vets I have ever met. I am caring for the sweetest 13 year old dog who has cancer and very bad arthritis which at times has presented some challenges, especially since he's about 100 lbs. Dr. Tedaldi is only a phone call away and I never feel that any question I ask is too silly. Just by the way Dr. Tedaldi touches Ajax when he's here I can tell how much he truly cares for animals. Keep up the great work !!
Dr. Scott's Knee Book: Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Knee Problems In... by W. Norman Scott Amazon Price: $13.95
Customer Review: I bought this & "The Knee Crisis Handbook" by Dr Brian Halpern. "The Knee Crisis Handbook" is better. Both cover knee surgery and sports, but Dr Halpern's has a whole exercise plan for your knees - stretching, "quickie" workout, ACL workout, general knee health, etc. Dr. Halpern is also more realistic about living with your 'bad' knee(s). For example, Dr. Halpern discusses how to protect your knees when playing football, etc. Whereas Dr Scott just tells you not to do 'em. Dr. Halpern's was also more personal - many patient interviews included. Helps you to get a feel for what you can & can't do with your knees. And Dr. Halpern's book seemed more informative & detailed without being boring or long. Wish I'd had this when I first injured my knee in college nearly 20 yrs ago. But better late than never.
The First-Aid Companion for Dogs and Cats: What to Do Now, What to Do Later, ... by Amy Shojai Amazon Price: Customer Review: There is so much useful information in just this one volume. What's more, there is a symptom finder, allowing a quick overview of possible causes of given symptoms among dogs and cats. There are two tables of poison hazards, including one which tells what human medications should never be given to cats (although veterinarians advise that no human medications should ever be given to animals without checking with them). The animal conditions that can be helped by first aid range from life-threatening situations to such things as constipation in cats. There are many helpful diagrams. One of them shows how to make a homemade Elizabethan collar and another one shows how to restrain a seriously-injured animal for the trip to the vet.
Signs and Symptoms in Emergency Medicine by Mark A. Davis, Scott R. Votey Amazon Price: $41.30
Customer Review: This book really is a wonderful resource for physicians interested in a statistical basis for their practice. I had been seeking for a book with hard numbers on the frequency with which symptoms and signs are found. This book really does an outstanding job
